A joint research project was undertaken by the New Zealand Teachers Council and the Ministry of Education inquiring into the status of teachers in New Zealand and implications for recruitment, retention and professionalism of teachers. Research Division was commissioned to provide an evidence base for development of policy and benchmarks for on-going monitoring. Three research reports were completed, of which the second and third will be formally published. The first scoping report is available on request to the Ministry of Education or the Teachers Council and the other two are formally published
