Community-based services for acute mental illness are used in addition to inpatient services provision, and can provide a whole-system of care response. This paper investigated one home based treatment service through interviews with service users, family/whanau and home based treatment team members. The research aimed to contribute a New Zealand perspective to the existing literature on home based treatment, and to provide guidance about recovery-oriented provision of acute services.
