This is the third Family Court Statistics report. It is based on data up to and including the 2007 year. It differs from the previous report as it provides detailed data on two full calendar years. The statistics contained in the report provide an overview of activity in the Family Court and those who access its services. Information presented includes:
- the number of applications and cases in 2006 and 2007; trends in Family Court activity since 1998;
- indicative statistics on the length and outcomes of cases;
- and demographic information about the main participants.
The statistics are based primarily on data captured by in the Ministry of Justice's Case Management System (CMS), as well as the former Family Court Database (FCDB).
Two reports for both the 2006 and 2007 calendar years have been produced: a full report and a summary report.
The full report is titled Family Court Statistics in New Zealand in 2006 and 2007. The statistics reported here are intended to disseminate Family Court statistics to the general public and more specifically those groups and agencies that have a particular interest in family-related issues.
The summary report is titled Statistical Bulletin: An Overview of Family Court Statistics in New Zealand in 2006 and 2007. It presents a high level summary of key trends.
