This guideline provides evidence-based surveillance recommendations for people at increased risk of colorectal cancer.
It updates the 2004 guidance Surveillance and Management of Groups at Increased Risk of Colorectal Cancer and follows the publication in June 2011 of the guideline Management of Early Colorectal Cancer.
It is intended for primary and secondary care providers who care for people who have undergone previous colorectal cancer resection, people with inflammatory bowel disease and people with adenomatous polyps.
Surveillance recommendations for people with a family history of colorectal cancer have had minor changes. Most notable is the inclusion of referral to the New Zealand Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Registry.
