In 2001, Pacific people living in New Zealand comprised approximately 6 percent of the population and were expected to double to 12 percent by 2051. This report highlights the need for a long-term, planned approach to the provision of Pacific mental health services and workforce development. This paper builds on the Pacific sections of the Commission’s 1998 Blueprint for Mental Health Services in New Zealand, and is informed by a number of other key reports.
