Health targets are a set of national performance measures specifically designed to improve the performance of health services. They provide a focus for action.The impact they make can be measured to see how they are improving health for all New Zealanders.
The Government has identified reducing waiting times for radiotherapy as one of its priority health targets and this booklet looks at the progress being made to achieve this.
The target is that from January 2011, everyone needing radiation treatment will have this within four weeks of the first specialist oncology assessment.
