In 2007 the Ministry of Health commissioned a survey of approximately 3,000 women who had recently given birth to evaluate their level of satisfaction with the services and care they received. Similar surveys were conducted in 1999 and 2002.
The Survey shows high levels of satisfaction with maternity services across all key areas. The Survey also identifies what women regard as important aspects of the service. Areas where improvements are needed are also highlighted.
The Survey findings will be useful for policy review and development, and provide valuable feedback for the health professionals and health service managers involved in maternity care.
